Spring? Well its not actually spring now since us Canadians are approaching fall and the leaves are already turning yellow!! However at Scrap for Help which is a blog based in the Southern Hemisphere more exactly in Brasil, its already spring. Their September challenge is to do a spring themed layout using of course recycled material. I searched throughout my house for recycled materials I could use for this layout. I finally came up with an idea that I must say I really like and I’m quite pleased on how it turned out. I used an old CD and applied white Gesso on the back of it to give it a smooth surface. After it dried, I applied these amazing rub-ons I got in a kit from Kaisercraft. I spread the rub-on flowers around the edge of the CD and then wrote a quote on it with black marker. I thought this idea was quite original and I’m glad it turned out the way I wanted. I enjoy experimenting with new materials and ideas. I also used an old cake doily behind the picture.
I really love Kaisercraft papers and I’m sure I’ve said it enough times. I use them in my layouts all the time. I used the Miss Nelly papers I won last month at the Kaisercraft Saturday Challenge. I must say they were so generous with their prizes. I was so surprised when they sent me the whole paper and embelishment collection because I just thought I was getting the papers. In tribute to their generosity I used the papers I won for one of their September Saturday Challenges following the sketch below.
I used a picture of myself taken by my husband in the park on warm day at the beggining of this past spring. Since the picture was black and white, I could use many different colours!! Hope you like it.
