It was powered by a 40 Mercury, then a 42 Mercury fitted with Phils own heads and intake manifold, a Winfield bumpstick, and Kong ignition. Phil entered five of the seven meets that year but only ran once (he spent most of his time running the car in Roaster Races on Circle Tracks that year). His speed was 123. 45 at the April meet.
